Part of the reason why Star Wars has become a cultural icon is partly due to its design cues that gives the movies a distinct look that is different from the other science fiction movies of its era.
EC Henry shares that “Star Wars really isn’t a boundless world that’s limited only by the designers’ imagination. It’s a practical, mechanically plausible world that’s firmly rooted in a deep legacy of real world design.”
Because the design is so close to our real world, we as viewers can relate to the story in the Star Wars franchise. This is something that designers can emulate too.
